Turn Steering, try start again

Parked 2008 S40 5 days agone, no problems. Today, when my son was leaving for school, steering cycle is not locked, inserted key, turned to position 3 and nothing. Got the bulletin "Turn Steering, try showtime again." Tried that and nothing. Noticed the following: When the key is turned to one and 2, all dash light and headlights come up on. At three, the headlights become off, the arm balance buttons go off and merely CHECK ENGINE stays on. Once the key is released, all indicators and headlights come dorsum on. OBD shows no codes. At that place is a "turn-signal" audio in the lower steering column area and a clicking nether the hood. I reviewed all related posts I could detect here and nigh related to a locked steering wheel. Mine is non locked. Put my Schumacher battery tester/charger on it and initially read eleven.7 volts. Charged information technology for i hour and information technology reads 13.5. Still no offset. Any ideas volition be more than greatly appreciated.

After the bombardment charge and with good battery voltage endeavor a battery reset. Disconnect the ground cable and bear on information technology to the pos post or terminal for v seconds and then reconnect. Have the ignition off and key out for 5 minutes before you do this.
If this works and then you may take only had a low voltage trouble taking a module offline. That auto doesn't actually take the electric column lock pin due to law changes eliminating the requirement simply information technology has the module to hold its place in the network construction. The message can occur on others when the lock is physically blocked but on your car it is module fault. Engine start is blocked if the organization thinks you can't plow wheel, true or not.

But yesterday my 2008 S40 did the verbal aforementioned thing. You described it to a "T". All the noises and clicking. I tried the disconnecting negative and touching the positive for 5seconds and zero happened. I also tried my other key. I am non hearing my ignition "accept" or "lockin". When I insert the key. Y'all know the distint sound of the key locking in. Whatever more than aid or suggestions would be peachy.

Drove it to work with no warnings or problems and eight hrs later.... Nothing.

I would endeavor to turn the wheel and remove the key until the steering bicycle locks, then insert the key to unlock the bike over again. On the older cars when we had bug like this, locking and unlocking the doors with a key 3 times frequently cleared the immobilizer. I don't take a clue if that's it or non, but it'southward worth a endeavor besides.
